The exhibition “Is This The Museum We Wanted?” calls for a debate on the role of art museums today, in the 21st century. The exhibition is a starting point for changing the focus of the museum’s exhibition program and its aim is to initiate a broader discussion on how an art museum should look like today, what role it can play, how should it act, whom and what it has to offer. The exhibition is through three floors, with 15 artists from Estonia and elsewhere participating. In addition, subproject has been integrated into the exhibition from the “Best of Tartu Art Museum” and the graphic design of museum publications through the ages. The exhibition is accompanied by a guide-catalog-workbook, which explains the project “Is This The Museum We Wanted?” and it’s works and subprojects.
