Reproductive biology researcher Elina Aleksejeva will lead a journey through Kris Lemsalu’s work from a scientist’s perspective.
Kris Lemsalu’s work is often associated with shamanism and mythological imagery, but these same symbols can also be viewed more straight-forwardly, revealing references to reproductive biological inevitabilities. However, these often burdensome issues in everyday experience lose the weight of life’s inevitability in Lemsalu’s imaginative and powerful artworks. Topics such as ovarian aging, miscarriages, and the role of the uterus in fertility take shape under Lemsalu’s hand in a way that allows these subjects to be discussed affirmatively and in harmony with recent scientific achievements in the field of reproductive biology.
The event is in Estonian, to participate you need to purchase an exhibition ticket.
